SangsLegal News An unmarried daughter is entitled to receive maintenance under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005: Allahabad High Court


The Allahabad High Court has recently ruled that an unmarried daughter is entitled to receive maintenance under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005, regardless of her religion and age, if she meets the criteria as an aggrieved person, as defined in Section 2(a) of the Act.

According to Section 2(a) of the Act an aggrieved person means any woman who is, or has been, in a domestic relationship with the respondent and who alleges to have been subjected to any act of domestic violence by the respondent;
